The Egyptian Association of Liver Patients Care (ALPC), member of the African Liver Patients Association (ALPA), has announced that free medical examinations were performed for 5,234 patients, as well as 1897 medical tests, 723 Fibroscan, 1178 Ultrasound, 41 X-rays, and 367 CT scan, at the ALPC's Liver Hospital and its branches across Egypt, during August 2020.
Prof. Dr. Gamal Shiha, chairman of the board of directors of the ALPC, stated that various medical procedures were conducted, including 51 hepatic intra-arterial injection, two liver resection surgeries, 27 gallbladder resection surgeries, five weight loss surgeries, colectomy procedures, two stomach cancer resection surgeries, two pancreatic cancer resection surgeries, one splenectomy, one laparotomy, two umbilical hernia repairs, and one surgical removal of a liver cyst.
In addition, 1221 medical tests, 428 endoscopy and 248 Ultrasound were performed; 767 individuals were vaccinated against hepatitis B; and various treatments were provided to 773 patients, and medications were dispensed for 2,106 patients suffering from chronic liver disease.
