The Board of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, chaired by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chairman of the Academy’s Council, and Mahmoud Saqr, President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology and Vice President of the Council, announced that Professor Gamal Shiha, Professor of Hepatology at Mansoura University, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of Liver Patients’ Care (ALPC) in Dakahlia and of that of the Egyptian Liver Hospital, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the African Liver Patients’ Association (ALPA), had won the 2019 State Appreciation Award in Science.
The Board of the Academy of Scientific Research announced yesterday the winners of all State Awards, including different bodies, individuals, women, pioneers and young African researchers.
Reportedly, 55 State Awards were granted this year, reaching a total of 5 million and 300 thousand Egyptian pounds, in addition to the special prizes presented by the Academy Board to the pioneers and women fo the year 2019, reaching a total of 690 thousand Egyptian pounds, and the prizes awarded to the African youth researchers for the year 2020 reached a total of $20 thousand. 41 winners were announced for the awards granted to bodies and individuals for the year 2019, reaching a total of one million and 190 thousand Egyptian pounds, noting that these are the prizes presented by ministries, bodies, national production units, scientific institutions and charitable endowments to support scientific research.
It is noteworthy that Professor Shiha is seeking, through ALPA, to popularize the Egyptian experience in the fight against viral hepatitis.
