today, Inauguration of Sadio Mane Hospital in Senegal, where he funded its construction

The Liverpool striker took time while on his holiday to meet with the Senegalese president to talk about a hospital Mané funded, and also trained with the youth national rugby team as they prepare for the African Cup.  Sadio Mané is known as somewhat of a reluctant star. The Liverpool FC striker has never been one who seems to seek the limelight, especially off the field. Despite that, he is one of the biggest stars in his native Senegal, beloved both for his play on the field as well as for his philanthropy off of it.

Earlier this summer, Mané met with Senegalese president Macky Sall after a round of international matches that saw Sadio score two goals in two games.  Mané and Sall spoke about the government operating a new hospital in Mané‘s hometown of Bambali that he funded to be built. The hospital was dedicated today to acknowledge the great gift from the hometown hero.  This isn’t the first time Sadio has helped finance a community project. He previously paid to have a school built in Bambali as well.

Mané also took time from his holiday to train with the Senegal U20 rugby team as they prepare for the African Cup. The Liverpool man was brought in to inspire and motivate the young rugby squad. He also used the session to train ahead of Liverpool’s upcoming preseason. While Sadio is low-key an absolute unit (check out those guns), let’s hope he didn’t take too many hits!
