The Egyptian liver Hospital continues to provide medical services to patients with digestive disorders, tumors and hepatic viruses

8167 medical exams, 570 Fibroscan and 112 surgical resection of liver tumors were conducted free of charge in the last 3 months.

 

Prof. Dr. Gamal Shiha, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of Liver Patients Care (ALPC) said that - despite the current situation of the coronavirus pandemic that is sweeping the world- the Association, its branches and the Egyptian Liver Hospital in Shirbin have not stopped providing medical services to liver patients because they are the most vulnerable group to the novel coronavirus. Therefore, it is not possible to delay the provision of their medical consultations, medical exams, treatments and surgical procedures. 

 

Dr. Gamal Shiha confirmed that, since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, precautionary measures were taken to protect the medical personnel: doctors, nurses, technicians or administrators, through constant sterilization and disinfection by using the latest medical reagents to measure temperatures for early detection of infection with the virus. 

 

In addition, he pointed out that precautionary measures were taken to protect the patients and visitors to the Association, its branches and the Egyptian Liver Hospital by giving them medical masks and measuring their temperatures.

 

He explained that different medical procedures were carried out at the ALPC in Qoulingeel, its branches and the Egyptian liver Hospital in Shirbin to a total of 8167 patients. The medical procedures included 784 Telescopes, 570 Fibroscan, 1167 Ultrasounds, 120 X-rays, 674 CT scans, 112 Embolisation and 124 different surgical procedures, noting that all procedures were carried out free of charge during the past three months "April, May, June".

 

On top of that, medical analysis were carried out for 1749 patients, medicines were provided for 3198 patients with chronic liver diseases, as well as for 1356 patients with Hepatitis B, and 2315 persons were vaccinated against Hepatitis B.
